Biography


Jione Choi (b.1990)


Born in Seoul, South Korea, Jione lives and works in London and Seoul.

Jione Choi began her PhD at the Royal College of Art in 2026, and she received MFA Painting in Slade School of Fine Art in 2019, London. She is one of the Tannery artists based at Drawing Room in Bermondsey, London. Notable awards include the RWS Publicity Prize 2023, the RWS Young Artist Award 2024 from the Royal Watercolour Society and the First prize of Art Gemini 9th edition. Two of her works are selected for the Drawing Biennial 2026 and 2024, organised by Drawing Room. She has also been selected by Tracey Emin as one of the Finalists of the Margate art prize 2023. In 2022, the artist won the Signature Art Prize 2022 in Drawing & Printmaking Category, and one of her works (Growing Love) was acquired for the art collection of Standard Chartered Bank. 

Other awards and recognitions include; Shortlisted artist of the Royal Society of Watercolour Open 2022; Shortlisted artist of the Sunny art Prize 2022; Longlisted artist of the Trinity buoy wharf drawing prize; Collaboration with Heal’s at Mansard gallery during London design festival (2019); part of the Rising Star Report by Saatchi Art (2019); Finalist of Marshwood Arts Award (2019); Shortlisted artist of the Graduate Art Prize (2019). Jione had 4 solo shows and participated in 30 group shows internationally.

최지원 (b. 1990)


작가 최지원은 현재 영국왕립 예술대학 (Royal College of Art) 에서 박사학위 과정중이며, 이화여자대학 서양화과 학사를 2014년에, 그리고 동대학원 석사 졸업을 2017년에 한 후, 영국 Slade School of fine art, UCL 대학교에서 Painting 석사를 2019년에 취득하였다. 


가장 최근의 이력으로는, 2025년 화랑미술제 'Zoom In 6th edition' 에서 최우수상을 수상하였고, 2024년에 영국 Drawing Room 에서 개최한 '드로잉 비엔날레 24', '드로잉 비엔날레 26'에 선정작가로 뽑혀 안토니곰리, 모나하툼, 서도호, 줄리안 오피 등 세계적인 작가들과 함께 드로잉 2작업을 선보였다. 또한 같은 해에, 영국 왕립수채화협회에서 영아티스트상을 수상하여 2년간 게스트회원이자 비상임운영위원으로서 활동중이다. 더불어, 2023년에는 트레이시 에민 (Tracey Emin) 이 선정한 'Margate art prize' 의 수상후보로 선정되었고, 영국왕립수채화협회에서Publicity Prize (홍보상)을 수상하였다. 2022년, Standard Chartard Bank (제일은행) 홍콩의 인터내셔널 컬렉션에 한 작업이 포함되었고, 영국 Signature art Prize 22 의 드로잉&판화 부분의 수상자로 선정되었다.  


그 외 주요이력으로는, 세계적 여배우인 하나 워딩엄 (Hannah Waddingham) 의 작품소장과 Sky Portrait Artist of the year 11, 에피소드 1의 방송출연 (2024), 최대 온라인 플랫폼인 사치아트의  Rising Star Report (2019)에 이름을 올렸고, Marshwood Arts Award (2019) 드로잉&판화부문 최종수상후보 3인에 뽑혔다. 그 외에도 한국, 영국, 싱가포르, 홍콩, 사이프러스 등 여러 나라를 오가며 국제적으로 활동중이다.
